All About QUILTCAMP 19th – 23rd MAY 2019
Four Days of sewing fun, on the banks of the River Shannon. Carrick Camping is situated in a very peaceful rural riverside setting, yet still very close to the busy market town of Carrick-on-Shannon. The Campsite offers a range of accommodation options from comfy bell tents, to cosy Shepherd’s Huts and funky caravans. B&B, self catering and hotel room and “Day Girl” packages are also available by arrangement for those reluctant to “Glamp” – you can still join all the fun from sun-up till past sundown.
SUNDAY May 19th
On our first evening we will have time (4.00 – 6.00 p.m.) for an introduction to a choice of planned sewing projects, a chance to CHOOSE what suits you – there will be a variety of options that can suit all skill levels and preferences, and a choice of “Goody Bags”.
Each presentation pack or Goody-Bag will contain all the fabrics required to complete a small-medium size quilt top; typically it will contain:
One Current Moda “Layer cake”
Background fabric
Border Print
Binding fabric
(extras including embroidery thread, fusibles etc. will be added should these be required for the chosen pattern)
We can have time to consider different options, choose form a lovely selection of colours and styles from modern to traditional, and make some first stage preparations if time permits.
On Sunday evening,weather permitting, we will then take a Dragon Boat ride into town for pre-dinner drinks, returning to the campsite for a choice of Himalayan Feast Dinner
at 8.00 – 8.30 p.m.
(Classic Roast chicken and Honey Roast Ham available for plain eaters if required)
Campfire and Craic till bedtime.
MONDAY 20th
9.30 a.m. – 4.30 p.m. – Sew All Day Monday, with a stop of course for a lovely lunch.
This is the day set aside to make real inroads on our chosen projects for the week.
4.30 – 6.30 Minibus will take us to visit the Shannon Blueway walk (Less than 1 hour, beautiful walk) at the end of which the minibus will transport us back to The Bush Hotel for Dinner.
Dinner Monday 7.00 p.m. The Bush Hotel.
After Dinner we will be collected by Minibus to return to the campfire for more stories/sewing/fun. Gaye will host a “Show and Tell” – everyone encouraged to join in!
Tuesday 21st
Sewing 9.30 – 12.30
Lunch
Sew again (optional) 1.30 – 3.00 p.m.
3.30 – 5.30 p.m. Walking / shopping in Carrick town, with tea & scones and or cakes in the famous “Lena’s” Tea Rooms.
6.00 – 7.00 Fun & Games at the campsite – indoor or outdoor activities depending on the weather, followed by pre-dinner break before…
8.00 p.m. Barbecue dinner by the campfire –
the entire area around the campfire has now been roofed, so we can sit out whatever the weather!
Wednesday 22nd
Sewing – choice of hand-sewing or machine sewing – 9.30 a.m. – 1.00 p.m.
Lunch
2.00 – 5.00 p.m. approx. Afternoon Tour –
Lough Kee OR Bluebell Wood OR Strokestown House OR Boyle Museum
(Choice will depend on popular vote and weather conditions)
7.00 p.m. Dinner at the Oarsman Restaurant
9.00 p.m. The Thatch, music and dancing.
Thursday 23rd
10.00 a.m. – 12.30 p.m.
Sewing – time to finish off, plan what comes next – share stories before we leave
(Check out of accommodation 12.30 – 1.00 p.m.)

2.30 p.m. Check out time – up the lane and away home !*

Cost: Total including accommodation / meals / excursions / materials €495.00
This can be paid in installments:
Deposit By December 31st 2019 €95.00 per person
4 x monthly payments November – April €100.00 each
This price is based on two persons minimum in shared tents.
Surcharge for Shepherd’s Hut €30.00 per night per Hut / €15.00 per person based on a minimum of two sharing. (Shepherds huts sleep 2 – 3 persons)
NEW for 2019 VINTAGE CARAVAN – €20 surcharge per night / €10.00 per person based on
A minimum of two persons sharing. Caravans (Choice of) can sleep 2 – 4 persons)
